10 Ways to Survive Green Bay Winters

Winter in Green Bay can be harsh — Green Bay hasn’t been deemed the “Frozen Tundra” for nothing, but winter at UW-Green Bay is full of opportunity! Here are a few tips and tricks for making the most out of your Green Bay winter:
Take the tunnels
UW-Green Bay academic buildings are connected by a concourse system — the tunnels. Walk comfortably from class to class without piling on the layers! UW-Green Bay’s tunnels are the perfect way to survive winter.
Enjoy a warm beverage
Warm up and relax by the fire at the Common Grounds Coffeehouse with a warm drink.
Don some Phoenix winter gear
Hats, mittons, scarves and sweaters, oh my! Who knew sporting your Phoenix pride could be so warm?
Bring summer fun indoors
The Kress Events Center has a variety of indoor intramurals, including a Battleship competition in the pool.
Channel your inner-child 👶🏽
The Cofrin Memorial Arboretum forms a natural boundary of 290 acres encircling the UW–Green Bay campus. That’s 290 acres of snow for snow creations.
Get Competitive
Billiards, Table Tennis, Super Smash Bros and more! The Phoenix Club has weekly leagues and tournaments.
Cheer on the Phoenix
Students attend all Green Bay Phoenix athletics events for FREE.
Catch a flick
The Christie Theatre features a variety of popular demand films each week.
Date Night: Every Thursday- Buy one ticket and get another ticket free.
Sunday Funday: Every Sunday- for $5 you will receive a movie ticket, a pretzel, a small popcorn, and a soda.
Skate or Tube at the new Titletown
The Titletown District offers a multi-acre stretch of park space open to the public with year-round, daily recreation, including an ice skating rink and tubing hill.
